Dr. Jess Briones: The Pride of Business Enterprise

By Taga Ibaan Ako

Ibaan is rich and and abundant with people of great talents and skills in different areas of specialization. There are times we hardly know or hear about them when they in fact should be placed on top and be recognized as source of pride for our dear town of Ibaan. But with the complexity of the society that we live in, along with its strange structure, they remain unnoticed and, for most of the time, their expertise untapped which could be of great help in the development of the community. And one of them is Dr. Jess Briones of Brgy. Salaban II.

Unknown to many, Dr. Jess is the only man standing in the area with Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Business in the area. Furthermore, Dr. Jesus P. Briones is an Associate Professor of the College of Business and Accountancy of University of Batangas where he teaches business and research subjects. He is also a prolific researcher of the University conducting outward-looking researches in the area of business and entrepreneurship. He holds a degree in Doctor in Business Management from Philippine Women’s University (2001) and his undergraduate and masteral degrees were obtained from University of the Philippines at Los Baňos (1982) and University of Batangas (1998), respectively.

Blogs' pages may run short if we are to speak more of his accomplishments. However, it doesn't matter. He is worth everyone's respect and admiration. For all we know, he is also a member of several professional organizations like the Council of Deans and Educators of Business in Region IV-A (CODEB 4), Entrepreneurship Educators’ Association of the Philippines (ENEDA), and Association of Marketing Educators of the Philippines (AME). As an advocate of entrepreneurship, he gives lectures/ business consultations on small business start-up and management to budding entrepreneurs. He is also the author of the book “Practical Thesis Writing Guide for College Students” which was published by WBDC Printing Press in 2008.

Why is it then that a man of his stature and intelligence not considered in any of the local government's endeavors to uplift the socio-economic plight of the community? I for myself believe that he can provide founding stones on any fortress that we all intend to erect. He's been active in providing lectures on livelihood programs and business enterprise planning standards to different entities for the last 15 years. He has helped strengthen the organizational structures of various enterprises. Maybe he can do the same for Ibaan. All he need is a chance to lay down his cards on the table and things might get a better twist in time. The community can benefit from that.

I guess it's true. Heroes hardly get recognized in his home land.

(Note: Dr. Jess Briones is University of Batangas' point man in providing seminars and lectures on business planning and livelihood programs to its adopted barangays in the last 15 years. Follow this link to see Dr. Jess in one of his lectures http://bit.ly/h8swrT )
